Prelude with an NSX Interior?..

Post by wchestnutt » Sun Mar 04, 2012 9:56 pm

Hi everyone,

I havn't yet introduced myself but have been shadowing around here for a while, finally picking up my second gen 5 Lude this week so though I would start speaking up. Really wanting to turn this new lude into a keeper after my last got rear ended. Picked up a low milage '98 Motegi and collecting this week so been shopping around some some nice wheels and the possibility of swapping out some of the interior for red - Floor and door card mainly to complement the black leather seats with red trim.

Annnnyway, cant get this image out of my head at the moment of a prelude with NSX (inspired at least) interior. Anyone know if anyone has ever done interior swaps of any kind or whether with design and fabrication this would be possible? In my mind this is kind of a fantasy football club scenario, but wondered what others thoughts are. pretty sure it would be awesome :p... The NSX interior is just suuuuch a nice place to be, I would live in one if I coud.

Cheers, William.

It would help to visualise it, if you post up a picture of an NSX interior.
I've never been in one so I don't know what it looks like.

yeah the seats are pretty hot, but I just love the curves of the dash, around to the door panels, the gear shift, mmmmmmmmmmmmm

I reckon you could have one fabricated in china with designs that fit around the basis of the standard interior using the same vent holes and fixings etc for quite a reaosnable price... bring it home, fit it with leather, some stitching, some hot dial cluster. Boom. Although I guess you will have to deal with airbags which will cause a problem... any other problems???

I trained in CAD so am probably going to have a shot at drawing someup when I have some time off for a laugh

Welcome to LG. :-)

With enough time, money, patience and can be arsed, anything is possible!

Several ways to acheive, cut up an existing NSR interior, which might look pants and quite possibly get you shot  or use foam moulding peices to build and scult the main dash and some interior panels, while using what you can from an NSX interior. Take the foam bits out. Cover in release agent. Cover in layers glass fibre and a final layer of carbon fibre weave. Lacquer, wet sand, polish, refit.

NSX dials look like 5G dials in my opinion. (not exact but similar).

You can get red carpets and red door cards for the redness. Then to finish off just buy some NSX seats and that would be epic.

Kawa, thanks! If only I had any kind of training in that kinda thing I wouldjump on it. Have done a Robin hood interior in the past but cutting out mdf and covering in foam and letherette is a slightly different matter.

Now, who wants to give me access to their NSX for a weekend to fill it with Foam?!....

Welcome to LG

I think the hardest thing is be finding an NSX interior. I think the seats would look sweet and unique in a Prelude, but when did anyone last see an NSX being broken?
