They're meant to be fast, yes. But in reality they're fat heavy dull things! :) :vtec: FTW!

Ive had a play with a 55 plate golf gti after work a couple of times through a few twistys over a couple of round abouts and then down a dual carraigeway in my h22a8 5th gen. The 5th gen sticks to it on the straights, fairs well on the twistys and the golf opens a bit of a gap on the roundabouts but pretty even up until about 120-130mph on the dual carraigeway. Preludes are pretty good for carrying good speed and corner exiting and very forgiving if you manage to lift off oversteer. Obviously thats realistic road driving not drag racing, with a boot full of spares
What model 4th gen do you have? And you say you beat it everytime what kind of lead did you get on it?

For the record, I've never been beaten by any Golf - GTi, TDi, GTTDi.. but admittedly I've never raced a Golf R32.

Pretty much all the golfs up until the mk5 gti and mk5 r32 are slow and jobby.

197bhp, but the are fat and heavier than the Lude. I get loads of Golf knobs trying to race the R34, bitch please.

Must admit tho i test drove an fn2 type r, clio 197 and mk5 golf r32 from the local dealer and the r32 ripped but then got back in the prelude and was like honda ftw :)

Mk4 gti's aren't really that fast & neither is the v6 4motion as one tried it with me & it was hilarious

Never really saw the point in the mk4 golfs, they are far too heavy, the v5 far too underpowered followed by the v6 4motion engine was pretty shocking and poor mpg. However the abf engine out the mk3 was pretty bullet proof with goid torque but still slightly over weight.
