Lude Generation

only had the lude 3 months and didnt know if the belt had been done so rang parts place didnt list gates so sent me a blueBLUEPRINT KIT INCL TENSIONER AND BAL BELT . had it fitted by honda technician . done 8 miles in her and she started to tick. so took her to the garage and 200 yrds from the garage it cut out !!!! yes sounds like the tensioner has failed ....8 miles ! they are going to check monday . i wish i had left the original alone now....
if it has failed and caused damage i am going to town with them ... ill have honda do the work and send them the bill ....

That sounds very odd...

that sucks -blueprint stuff is pretty good. Did you replace the autotensioner as well when you did the belts?

Exactly what I was thinking, sounds like you have changed belts, pulleys etc but not changed the auto-tensioner (this isnt included in any kits), unfortunately if this is the case you wont be covered under warranty.

THE kit came with the auto tensioner as the guy said it was a pain as you had to keep it compressed put it on and then release it to tension ....
the kit came with 2 belts 1 tensioner and 1 pulley

If he says it was a pain to do then to me it seems likely that at some point during fitting it gave him trouble and he then figured you have to treat it a certain way. Otherwise it wouldn't have been a pain and fitting would've gone smoothly and no mention of it would've been made.

So perhaps it was a bodged/incorrect fit?

Kit only comes with the tensioner bearing, blueprint dont do an autotensioner.

Here is the blueprint parts catalogue to show they dont do the autotensioner.

There's a good chance, most belt failures on h22's is through the autotensioner.

Also it's not a pain to fit because it comes pre tensioned, he might have re used the old one, my blue print kit didn't come with the hydraulic tensioner, but I think I might buy a new one even though the old one looks ok.
