Need help choosing a car for a friend.
Since we are all car people here I thought I'd ask here. Basically, My friend wants to buy a new car and needs help deciding.
Requirements:
- £6-7K budjet
- Cheap and economical to run (1.4 max)
- Cheap on Road tax and cheap to insurance
- Low maintenance
- 5 door
He is 23 years old, doesn't care what he drives, doesn't really care about Jap/Dub/Euro scene etc. He just wants a reliable car that will last him more then 3 years and will be economical and cheap on Petrol. He has never had a car before so I know his insurance will be high but anything reasonable is ok.
Give me some suggestion and I'll pass it on to him.

Honda Jazz - could get a decent 1.4 one for ~ £4k. Insurance group 3 I believe.

I agree the Jazz is a great little car, my neighbour has one. For that sort of money your friend could have a decent choice throughout the Jazz range.
i.e. 2007 Honda Jazz 1.4 Sport 5dr Selling on AutoTrader for £6k

Jazz's are like a tardis inside as well. Not that quick though, I had the 1.4 petrol and a 1.6 Diesel Fiesta, the fiesta was quicker and had better MPG but the jazz had a better interior. The fiesta also had a sharp corner on the centre console right where your left knee was, which I really didn't like as I could see that doing damage if you ever had an accident!
I did Glasgow to Newquay in one day in a jazz, and it was comfortable. Just the stock looks are a bit bland
