Hello everyone.
Not very long ago I started a thread asking peoples views on the dc5 integra because I was going to go through with a quite big loan and buy one. Well to be honnest you guys put me right off and made me think twice before I splashed the cash. I decide to leave it for awhile and think it over, to consider my options really. The decision was to buy something else that was more value/bhp for money like a evo or scooby instead.....couldnt warrant spending that amount on a glorified civic that isnt any quicker than my bb4 in the real world!
I came across one of my boyhood favourite cars when looking for a alternative, the 3000gt or jdm gto. Started inquiring and researching and i ended up buying one on a spur of the moment impulse binge lol. Now im less than 100% convinced I have bought that grand torismo 2 underdog dream car that I loved so much.
Its very fast for a big boy and on the motorway im sure it would leave the Lude for dead but its sooo refined and lacks that rage if you know what I mean. Lol.
Anyways what are your experiences and view on these cars?
Any input is welcome.
Thanks.
Craig.

Sorry man, not good news from this end. My mate had one and all we did was fix mechanical and electrical problems. Quick when it was running, but that was not often enough to give me fond memories, pray you never have to change the spark plugs or dismantle and suspension components! I'm sure the front auto aero splitter is still somewhere on the A85 where he finally snapped at the errors, ripped it off, and turfed it into the heather ...

You have company in your thoughts.... I've never driven one, but I do remember that many of the usually more reliable reviewers at the time found them oddly uninvolving, sometimes blaming the plethora of driver support systems. I think they look a bit plain and uninspired, but that's just my taste.
I expected the engines to be tough, being Mitsubishi's, but maybe I was wrong!
I will say that even if you decide to get rid of it buying it was probably not a mistake. You'd still have had the itch to try one someday otherwise, and it's good to fulfill the boyhood dreams even if we find our taste has moved on, I think.

As said electrical problems and the ecu on them give wild bother. Funny enough we bought one to use as a track car before the prelude but never got it going due to not no what it was. (We had 3 mechanics and an auto spark look at it with no joy) then a m8 of mine later on said about the ecu allways drokk up on them for what ever reason. All the best with yours anyway pal. Im sure its a thirsty bitch

My cousin had one. Quick car for sure but it ended up cuddling a A road roundabout sign and one of her legs broken

I like them but don't know anything about them really.
Not really helpful input I'm afraid.

The only car a porn producer should drive. Not a director, thats what the 350z is for. No, a producer.
Always liked them but would be wary of them now unless I had very deep pockets. Heard you cant rag the engine like you can the H22 (and as it turns out the m52b28 in the 328i

) so that kinda put me off ever getting one.
Drive it, polish it up and sell it before it costs you £2658.88 for a turbo rebuild or a suspension replacement.

I do like them, a friend has one. There's quite a few cheap ones around, but they will be riddled with faults and should be avoided. You want a reliable one you've gotta spend £4-5k which is still a lot of car for the money. UK models have more power than JDM ones believe it or not.
To be honest its not a car you can drive daily, its far too wide and thirsty on fuel.

They're a £50-60k performance sports car, and need to be ran like one - as they've dropped in price, so has the average spent on them in maintenance, and this means that there are a lot of cheap ones out there that haven't had the maintenance that they require.
They're very quick, if not very engaging, as the 4wd and all of the electronic aids do take some of that control away from the driver, they're very much a point and squirt car. But - if that's what you want...
Much like my Legnum, really, it's very easy to drive, very easy to drive fast, but isn't as engaging as the Prelude is, and you need to be doing very stupid speeds to even begin to get near its capabilities, you can have more fun on a B-road in a Prelude than you can a GTO/Legnum/Evo in my opinion.

Thanks for all the input guys. I was very nervous when going to buy it because of the price. Wasnt the cheapest about but was at the lower end of yhe scale. The car could do with a respray and it needs front discs and pad plus a serivice which in my books is a normality when purchasing a secondhand car. Active areo is intermittent which is going to get taken off anyways so its not a problem. The fancy elictric suspension is stuck in sports mode....bonus lol. Thats going as the car sits like a 4x4, me thinks BC's this time

. Active exhaust nose thingy dosent work, the car is so quite....also dont care as a aftermarket beast will be making its way on in the future! Electric seats and bolster adjustment works fine. V6 and turbo seem really tight and in good condition. Oil pressure is good, holds boost well with literally no smoke at all. 6 speed gearboxs and clutch are in really good condition other than the linkage and spring being tired.......also will be getting changed/ sorted!
To be honnest i have never really used a car with such a close through as the gto has so putting it into 6 gear on the motorway ended up in the reverse lights coming on and abit of a crunch, to the fright of my following girlfriend lol. But its all good now that im use to her hahahah. Poo did run down my leg
