Hi all,

Been quiet this last couple of weeks, mega busy with projects changing over at work and loads of stuff to do at home.

Anyway, I'm in the jobby for this weekend I'm really hoping there might be someone that can come and help me out, please?


2 weekends ago Donald came and helped me saw cut and breakup the concrete and start the excavation in the barn
This weekend I had a mate planned to come over from Reading and help me finish off digging the rest of the hole out, setting the reinforcement and pouring the concrete, but unfortunately something's now come up (wedding related - he gets married in the Philippines in 5 weeks) and he can't come.

I have a skip, cement mixer, reinforcing mesh, wheel barrow, shovels and 140 bags of ready mix cement being delivered on Saturday morning and now only me to do it all...
I lost last weekend going up to Blackpool sorting out the replacement car for Lisa's (just widowed) mum and my next few are all chock full of other things.

Is there possibly anybody that could help?

Basically it's help digging 1.5m3 of hardcore and soil out of the barn and into the skip, then chopping up the reinforcing mesh, setting that out, then mixing the concrete and pouring it.

I can offer beer/food/love/cuddles etc. whatever is needed on that front!

I would, but fear that this sort of work would put my back out of action for numerous weeks!!

It's not a great deal Gayno, sounds worse than it is.

I presume the bags of cement can be dropped pretty much where you're pouring? So that's walking 3.5t elimated! The broken segments that need removing don't weigh much more than a house brick from memory, and a job shared is a job reduced to the appropriate fraction.

Offer of help is still there for any date between 12 Dec - 12 Jan, in case you have to put this off for a bit.

Thanks Dude. I can't put it off unfortunately, need to get the floor back in one piece so I can move the cars and the landlord can get the rooflights changed...
I may well be in touch about installing of the ramp itself around new year though! (setting out, doweling/stud fixing, post installation/levelling and packing under, then final reassembly of the ramp itself...)

just seen this mate. if i would of seen this yesterday i would of been able to help you out for the morning . unfortunately took some work on for tomorrow. hope someone is able to help you out

Was impressive squeezing a 20 tonner up to the top of the barn and seeing the hiab manoeuvre under the roof height/around and in between the cars
Restored some faith in the building trade - 3 deliveries of crap and all here before 10am, Result! (probably being a saturday when they all want to make sure of finishing an knocking off by 12am helped ) Only thing missing was some shovels, but I can pop out and get them locally now.

Thanks for the messages of support guys it was late notice/a big ask I know so no worries about not being free for today. I have now managed to persuade another localish mate to come over and help me out today (not sure about tomorrow and he's not actually here yet...) so we'll see how far we get!
