Frost! Sunroof stuck!

Well
Frost is upon us.
I had no frost on windscreen (not sure because its got Rain-x)
I also wiped down the door seals with Meg rubber/trim clean - so door opened fine
But sunroof will not open!
Engine whirring...
But i did not put meg rubber/trim clean on sunroof seals.
Anyone had same problem?
And what did u do to prevent it?

PS: Ok, i know about letting it defrost and its winter!

You need to treat the seals on the sunroof, same as you've done with the door.
Also, keep the sunroof closed anyway - it's cold out! Brrrrrr....

Usually i used air con to blast the misted windscreen
But my air con dont work
So opened windows and tried to open sunroof ...

Both my 3rd gen sunroofs never opened when it was icey. Even after 30mins drive with heat in minus temps.

Just checked that its pretty difficult to apply meg rubber/trim cleaner on sunroof seals as only front and some side bits can be reached
The rest is hidden too much to gain access ...

Try squirting some silicone sealant spray on the rubbers in both open and closed position. By the by, the only issue I have on mine these days is my air con not working, tho' I've not had it fault - diagnosed yet. It's the old R12, so not easy to find a 'con specialist with the necessary fittings. in my experience,don't bother trying the mainstream bods like Halfords, as I've already tried and they don't have the fittings.

But thanks for tips!
RS24 is direct replacement for R12.
U just need to find someone who source RS12 AND has the SMALLER valve fittings to recharge your air con (unless u already have your smaller valves replaced with big ones).
I am STILL trying to find a local RS24 in my area:-(

Thanks for the tip, as funds allow, I'll look for a RS24 / R12 'con specialist locally.

I meant source RS24
As R12 is banned in this country now
Some people just stick the normal air con gas in - but since the gas molecules are smaller it will leak thru your old R12 system quicker.
Converting R12 system to new system will cost £100s - eeek!
But normal recharge is about £50.
Prepare to pay £70+ for RS24 recharge
