Laptop spec (music production)

I'm trying to specify a laptop for producing music. I'll be both recording from analogue inputs via a Behringer A/D I already have, and making other stuff from software.

The budget doesn't run to Apple MacBook or similar, and I'm not keen on the Mac Mini for some reason, so it'll probably be a Windows-based device.

Anybody out there doing this sort of stuff who can recommend something stable?

I'm using a Lenovo T410 for this very purpose. Max the ram, fit a fast HDD, and you're golden. I got this one: http://www.tier1online.com/728-2522ac1- ... it-grade-b

Then added memory from crucial and a 1tb Seagate SSHD ( SSD + HD combo ).

As an aside, ewwwww! Behringer!

Ta.

Do you find the 14.1" screen OK when multi-tracking + pop-ups?
Also, some reviews weren't that complimentary about the sound; I'm guessing the card is up to the job, just the speakers a bit naff.

Screen is fine - it can also drive an external monitor to dual screen if needed. I wouldn't use the onboard sound on any laptop for audio work, I have a Scarlett 2i2 I use for that side of things. The onboard card and speakers are both very average.
