It's been nearly a week but now just getting over my incident from last weekend - i killed my brother in laws car!

He has owned is FN2 for three years and has been steadily modifying it since. A year last Nov he had an epileptic fit and has been off the road since - the only time the car moved was me taking it for a spin or for a service or MOT. In that time he has amassed a great deal more high end mods ready for fitting.
Car went into the garage a couple of weeks ago for all the mod fitting. He had hoped by now his license would be back but usual DVLA paperwork means he is still waiting. Because he can't yet drive I brought it back, him riding shotgun. Last Sunday the weather here was horrendous - very wet and windy. On the way home we encountered debris on road and floods. 2 mins from his home at a roundabout we met another flood. Rather than turn round and having watched the two cars in front go through comfortably I followed. Slowly. As we were about to exit the puddle the car died on us. Tried restarting but having had issues with the battery before we left the garage it wouldn't start. Tried jumping off of another car and again it didn't work. At this point I thought best get the car home but it was decided to jump off a tow and Bang!
Confirmed yesterday it shat and bent two conrods and a 2-3k rebuild :o

Anyone else had an absolute nightmare with a car? I wish I.could jump back in time!

D'oh! Nothing as spectacular as that I'm afraid.

Did it have a lower intake filter by any chance?

Yup. Unknown to me the filter now sat incredibly low behind passenger front wheel. That on top of the Meister fully adjustables etc so the car say very low. He is kinda pissed but perversely I think it gives him the opportunity for more mods - was even considering a K24 frankenstein engine till the costs came back.
I did give it one toot up a stretch of quiet A road - been driving my 2.2 diesel civic since I moved my 5G vti on - left me uninspired as no torque/turbo and not all that much faster thann my 5G!

Sorry. I did it without thinking. So many talk about their Hondas in Model/Engine code ie H22 A5/A8, DC2/5 etc

Yeah. Had I been a passenger wouldn't have felt a fraction as bad! It became a perfect storm - his wife had said not to come that way and he told me to go slow, I was the driver and his dad was determined we bump started it. We all in effect had collective responsibility

hydrolocked engine is certain death in trying to start it. Unfortunately thats the first thing people try when getting pulled out of a flood. Water in cylinders cannot be compressed. Just as a matter of interest where is the air intake on it?
