So, I know that my rear o/s hub has a little play in the bearing, and I have a replacement.

Great, unfortunately the replacement is non ABS, I bought it for about a fiver on ebay years ago. ;)

No problem, all I need is a new reluctor ring, whack it on and off I go.

So a search of the usual places did not turn up what I needed, then a quick google found me this place:

http://www.reluctorrings.com

Looking at the web site I noticed that they are ony a few miles from where I live, also the site makes the following statement:
Not Available? We can make to order. We’ll make yours for FREE if we’ve not made for that model before ... Please contact us if your make or model is not listed above.
A search of their site shows they don't do the Prelude.

So I made contact, and they confirmed that they did not do the Prelude, and in order to make me one they needed an existing one for measurements. Which kind of makes sense why the first customer is free as it gives them what they need to make more.

So I arranged to get down there with the old hub and ring, as well I took the new hub so thye cvould get it exactly right.

Met the guy, handed over the bits and he said, that'll be £62.80 all in then......

......err, seriously?

Yes

Seriously?

Yes

No, seriously?

Yes.

But what about the statement on your website?

Well, we'll only do that for popular newish cars when it makes economic sense to do so.

Prick. :tosser:

I've literally just done that. ;) I thought it would be difficult, but actually took less time than it took for my cup of tea to go cold. :D

They're quite easy to split/break in the process though (I did that on one of the driveshafts on my Xantia  )

GKN driveshafts IIRC, so the same as many modern cars :P

They were utterly shift though tbf - such horrible cheap modern manufacturing methods that overhauling the drokking things was a total nightmare... I don't plan on doing it again (though I expect I might have to, given Citroen's determination to assassinate parts supplies for anything that had green blood in it  :guns: )
