So a study has found that pregnant smokers are more likely to give up smoking if they are paid 400£ of shopping vouchers.

Sorry, run that by me again please?

You are telling me that stupid bitches who cant control their own reproductive systems, or worse plan to have a child, and then, after all the available education on the subject CHOOSE to continue with a health damaging addiction which is known to seriously damage your baby are given SHOPPING vouchers as a bribe to stop stunting the development of their unborn child.

Only 15% mind........

So this raises many opinions in my mind.

Most of which i wont voice for fear of seeming like a bit of a rhubarb. Which I never said I wasn't.

Mostly its the obvious 'mouthbreather' 'chewing food with their mouths open'' lower order genetic specimens which will get the bribe. If you are too stupid, or I have to give them ignorant, to gestate a child even remotely safely what on earth makes them think its all going to change around come birth? Fact is its just another pointless mouth with minimal prospects filling up space we dont have. Realities are, and this is where I go off piste a bit, that many of these children will end up with possible longterm health damage, poor schoolastic records, poor quality job prospects, disaffection with society, substance misuse, and the growing chance of just being another money grabbing drain on a society already top heavy with them.

Smoking while pregnat hurts your baby. If I was in charge it would be the first mark against you for whether you get to keep that baby the other end. Smoke all the way through? No, you'll get given an abortion, an education or it will be given to someone with more sense who cant have one. Children are our future, they should not be treated as a personal item of ownership, they belong to the species and each one should have the best chance it can get.. Simples.

Smoking while pregnant is child abuse and should be treated as such. I wouldn't give a stupid ignorant parent 50quid to 'not' hit their kid so what gives? Someone tell me how this is a 'positive' approach and not just more pandering to distorted perceptions?

If you dont agree fine. I dont care. People too stupid to actually grasp the concept of parental responsibility should have the chance removed from them and they should understand its because they are weak, stupid and pointless. Maybe the suicide rates will rise and we can clean up the genepool a little. We'd all be sterile till we proved we were decent people if I had my way but like I said, I have quite hardline replies to these kind of idiocies.

Annoyed and frustrated with how weak, ineffectual and decadent this culture is. You dont need to be a historian to know what happens to societies which reach that heady height.... :roll:

I purposefully used inflmmatory language and structure to illicit an emotional response.

I was hoping to get some shouting going on with both pro and con getting a good airing..... Its a devisive subject and one that should be open to opinion.

Although perhaps your off piste part is worth discussing. I won't go in to details in public, but I think I've turned out fine :lol:

I totally agree with you LLL. The other half has got a heart problem and every time we go to her check up appointments we're both sick of having to walk through a cloud of second hand smoke just to get to the entrance of the hospital!!! As for the smoking whilst pregnant...wtf is wrong with people?!

@benny :lol: :lol: :lol: classic

@donald: I did use the modifier 'most' as a get out clause :lol: also this cant apply to anyone not pregnant NOW. Education was not as available years ago, we did not know the very real dangers associated with this. Or atleast we didnt really understand them in the same way. Rather like building a house now. You wouldn't use blue asbestos as a roofing compound nowadays due to the amount of negative research available. Years ago it was different.

True but I did grow up in the time where these kinds of perceptions were changing and education was supposedly being reformed.

Point taken though ;)

I imagine I fall into the same age category as a lot of these idiots. Perhaps just outside (have to keep reminding myself I'm no longer 18-25 :lol: )
