After watching a video on youtube

Thinking about finally replacing my old Intel i3 550 3.2 @ 4.2 and Nvidia GTX 460 gaming system as it's just not up to modern games any more (Evolve is barely playable)

Basically copied the Jackfrags build but used overclockers.co.uk

"Recon RX6" AMD FX-6 6300 Black 3.5GHz (4.1GHz Turbo) Six Core Value Gaming Bundle £217.99
Sapphire Radeon R9 270X Boost OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Card £129.95
Kingston 240GB SSDNow V300 Drive SATA 6Gb/s 3 2.5" (7mm height) Solid State Hard Drive - (SV300S37A/240G) £79.99
SuperFlower Golden Green HX 550W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black £49.99
BitFenix Comrade Midi-Tower - Black £29.99

Total : £507.91

Problem is I'm a bit of a Intel/Nvidia fan boy but I'm getting lost trying to find an alternative system. If I go intel/nvidia I can install OSX on it for video editing (or just keep this PC for editing video)

The Jackfrags build is quite old now are they any other new components that are worth looking at?

I've always used AMD

my next pc will be intel for sure, fancy a change/can afford it now

after building one for work, I thought it had less problems, maybe its just me

also not keen on SSD yeah its quick to boot, but pricy for amount of gigs

my 60gig for the OS filled up pretty quick with shitty iTunes and nvidia updates

I've got a 1TB HDD that I will run along side the SSD. 99% of my gaming is through steam and that allows you to have games on different HDD's (Windows and a few games that I play all the time on the SDD, rest on the HDD)

I always used to have AMD but then they went off the ball and got Intel and never gone back to them, it's just on a budget AMD seem to be the cheapest for a decent spec

I still use AMD, got the octacore job here at work with a Radeon card. I'm perhaps odd, but I like that all the kit is by the same Manufacturer - seems to be a bit more seamless.

Built a pc for my lad for Chrimbo and it was circa £550. Spend a little extra and go for the R9 280 https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-vi ... 80gaming3g

I was just surprised how quick it filled up with just OS things
