What Lude is this??

Post by chris1811 » Thu Jun 18, 2015 7:48 pm

Right guys, sorry I've been asking lots of questions recently but as said, I have no knowledge of these cars at all....only honda I've ever owned was a VFR 800 V4 VTEC ha

So looking at swopping my Mr2 for this lude, log book says it's a 1993 2.2L i Auto import. (everything is in Japanese lol)

Vin code - BA8

Engine code- F22B

I would like to know what Gen it is, BHP, Vtec or not, 4WS?, etc etc. Drove it today and quite enjoyed it eventhough it is an auto.

Yeah, as above, 2.2 non VTEC, 158bhp, JDM import, probably has 4ws ..there's an easy way to check!
Looks pretty tidy, but you'll end up wanting to do an engine and gearbox swap in the end ;)

Cheers guys, thanks for the input :)

I really fancy it. Ideally need a bigger car. Would probably have a look into an engine conversion later on in its life.

As good as the non vtec preludes are, the vtec version is waaaaaaaay more fun and in a totally different league.

Having converted mine from an auto, I'd say a similar thing regarding the manual box.

My advice would be to sell the mr2 and find a good vtec manual.

if the shell is solid that is the most important thing you might find a vtec but it may also be rotten a good shell is a great place to start and the f22 is a decent engine and the 4g autobox is pretty strong

Yea it is rotless from what I've seen so far. The gearbox is smooth still and pulls well for an NA.

Also has the magical sports button nom nom lol

Whilst I know the Vtec will be more fun, I've gotta think about economy as I do alot of miles :)

That's a good point, if it is a rust free shell, then that's a bit of a rarity these days.

Make sure you check the rear arches and back of the sills very carefully.

Looks ok?

Thanks for that, I'll check when I see it next.

I did check under bonnet and on the boot. Didn't find any lip rust or damp spots. Inside is stupidly tidy too. No rips, splits, tears, rubbing or discolouration . And sunroof works- bonus :P
