I haven't dared try to take the bloody awful and drokked tints off the bb4 yet, for this exact reason (scared of trashing the heated rear window)
But!
Have no fear nitin, scrubbed glass can be saved (no, really).
If it's light scratches, you can polish them out. If it's heavier, the answer is...
Re-film them (with a clear film). It amazing how well that works*
*I should admit this is not based on personal experience on car windows, but plenty of experience on train windows - anti-graffiti film goes straight over dutch graffitied windows and sorts them a treat!

so hopefully same will apply
