Hello all

I've been an avid Honda fan for years, I've owned a crx, prelude, dc2, dc5, s2000, civic vti, and now really fancy a motegi 2.2 a8 as it would seem after reading threads on here that is the one to buy.

Question is how often do they come up through the year on average, and the average price for a decent example. I'll have around 2500 to spend but it won't be until my mrs goes back to work off maternity leave in the summer.

Just need a rough guide do I know what to expect for my money. Ideally I'd buy from the forum as the cars tend to be enthusiast owned which in my eyes means the vast majority are looked after.

Cheers

Booker

I think it all really depends on whether you want something which isn't a really high mileage, but your budget definitely makes it achievable to get something which ticks all the boxes :) I've got an ad up in the for sale section at the moment for my H22A8 Prelude with just over 100k on it. I know your not looking to buy right now but might give you a flavour of price and what to expect :)

Yep, you'll get a good one for that budget.

The a8's are not all that common though... Possibly a couple a month max come up for sale???

What makes the a8's so desirable? Are the previous models of the 2.2 worth a punt?

200bhp without the need for 97+RON fuel
Red top (11:1 comp) engine with the more aggressive cams
Has tuning potential due to the high comp engine and its relativity low BHP figure
Has dynamic chamber intake from the factory
Uses the low ratio M2P4 gearbox (only UK Lude gearbox with the lower final drive + shorter ratios in 2nd & 3rd)
H22a8 cars have heated seats and heated wing mirrors
Uses heaver power steering pump for better steering feel
