Not owned one, but been taken for a drive in one.
The engine revved nicely and it looked to handle well, but... Just felt so gutless to me. I couldn't do without the extra pull of an h22.

Many go from an EP3 to an ATR. Few go back

Whilst I'd agree with ^ this overall, the EP3 is still a performance and practical bargain.
My brother got his '02 the same time I got the lude, so I drove it a lot. Whilst I would pick the lude over it (power delivery/engine, looks, build quality) the EP3 was good fun and when you drop the rear seats, all jokes aside it is like a van.
My brother is a bespoke carpenter and the stuff he managed to carry in his....crazy.
Like wurly, it feels a bit fizzy and less powerful then the lude, but then it is, in terms of torque.

I'd say drive one.
What would put me off the EP3 is that there seem to be few cared for ones and lots of chavved ones.
What would put me off the ATR is the fact that many seem to suffer from rust BADLY. I don't really understand why, it must be just the way they were made and (not) weather protected?

For me the EP3 just isn't 'special'....so so common

A Type R for the masses. No 'slipper as standard- slightly flaky Swindon build etc

It lost that bespoke handbuilt feel you get with a nice cared-for DC2.

The residuals tell the story here tbh. Not sure how cheap a really good EP3 is but decent DC2's are appreciating rapidly....

I had an 05 facelift CTR.
As a car I can't fault it, was practical and actually reasonable on fuel (make of that what you will, given that the Legend is my current daily), my only gripe was the turning circle which is wider than average.
The only reason I got rid of it, was because I bought the Del Sol as a work car, and found I enjoyed driving that more than the CTR. Seemed a bit silly to keep it.

It's good, but it aint got no soul like the earlier Hondas.

This seems to be the concensus view and I thought similar too...... Lol

I have never driven one and they don't have them here... I was looking to get one before I get back so highly unlikely I will get a chance to drive one...@bennyboy

When I was looking for a new car, the JDM EP3 was one I considered (more power, less weight, LSD 'box, champ white), but ultimately lost out to the DC5. Personally, I wouldn't bother with the other EP Civics, but that's only because they are common as muck around here (Cornwall).

The JDM ones R quite pricey, yes they do look I nfinitely better... Standard facelift at 3k budget sema to be the Best daily.. Plenty of spares about and cheap enough to run... I want to keep the Lude as a weekender warrior... Lok
