You know how annoying cyclists are...

.. well in a week or so I'm going to be one of them
I decided to try and do something positive after my recent health problems so yesterday I spunked £1.5k on a new bicycle

In my defence it is mainly made of carbon fibre and we all know I'm a sucker for carbon goodies
So in a week or so I should have one of these delivered to my door... Specialized Roubaix SL4 Elite disc

I'm nowhere near fit enough to ride it yet but I'll probably just annoy the Mrs and park it in the living room for a month or so
I did find out (fortunately) that apparently bicycles don't come with pedals anymore, you have to buy them seperately

Bloody cyclists complicating things!!
Anyone else on here a lycra wearing weirdo or am I starting a new trend? On that note for those that know me fear not - I aim to avoid wearing lycra at all costs

I'll be the one riding a shiny new race bike in jeans and a t-shirt if at all possible

Yeah, I'll never be a roadie. They frustrate me!
TBH, I never truly relax on a road bike round here, too many idiots on the road, so I tend to get up at 6am on a Sunday and get a ride in while the world sleeps.
I couldn't be without cycling though, it's a great leveller and way to keep fit.
Nice bike BTW. I recently rebuilt an Allez that had been goosed in a crash with a van. My bro has it now and loves it.

Yep. The good news is you're not alone - I'm also a lycra wearing weirdo. Top tip - just accept it, and wear the lycra. It's a lot less painful in the long term! Key things are padding and chafing, one you want, one you don't and both are dealt with by pukka cycling kit - even if you look like a tit wearing it
This is my current 'best bike'. Bought the frame and all the bits, then me and a mate built it. It's since had white bar tape put on though:

I had the distinct feeling someone was going to say that

Hmm, I guess I could wear lycra if I plan my routes to avoid cycling past my local so my mates don't see me...
I've seen 'baggy' style cycling shorts with padding for about 40 quid, are they no good?
Love the colour scheme of your bike - I wanted the SL4 comp disc but everywhere had sold out, that was a similar grey. Had to get the bright red elite instead which also meant changing from Shimano to SRAM groupset but that didn't bother me too much.

£1500?... Amature!
Used to work in a bike shop where the majority of road bikes sold were in excess of £3k, but it was/is the UK's biggest triathalon store in the UK, so the majority of the customers were upperclass pompus pri...eople
I to am a mountain biker at heart, but have been out of the scene for years now. I built a bike last year to get fit again, but still haven't ridden it properly

Just waiting to have the disc brakes back from being services and then I'll be off!
Great way to get fit and actually enjoy it as well
You will actually get less strange looks wearing lycra on a road bike compared to wearing jeans and a t-shirt on a road bike

It's the position you're in on a road bike, the leaning forward tends to leave you showing your arse crack unless you wear bib shorts. That was my experience anyway, YMMV!

Cheers man, it was a long build as I handpicked everything, including a SRAM groupset, which I rate over the Shimano kit btw! In my eyes you got an upgrade
