First time in 15 years of my ownership.

I thought it was a certain model of 4g that could pass emissions without cat (possibly bb4) as the chassis code wasn't available in UK form. But...yours would still have failed as there is a hole in the pipe. Apparently the design of the exhaust system is to extract the fumes away from the engine avoiding the cabin

Yeah it is only Pre-August 1995 BB4's that have the non-CAT test, all BB1's be it UK or JDM will have a CAT test. Although I would think that a holey exhaust would be a fail on any car.

Yes it's the 'major leak of gasses' that is a fail as opposed to the emissions :lol:

Pre-August 1992? Yeah they will be treated the same as any car of that age an doesn't need a CAT test. Sorry forgot about them as the BB1 wasn't sold in the UK until 1993.

MOT pass today
Costs MOT. Repair Handbrake. Weld exhaust system Labour including VAT £84 MOT £35 total £119. It did not need a caliper after all.
Result I am a happy Badger! :D
