Other than Blue Beauty - my little hobby on the side.

Hi all,
Well, instead of fretting about the Prelude, I also have something else which I've enjoyed doing for the past couple of years. As you can see, I have a thing for ashtrays and tobacco advertising/POS in general. Okay, I know smoking is not big and it's not clever, but I enjoy the fact I'm keeping a little bit of history alive. It's pretty amazing to think isn't it, that not too long ago there were companies out there that branded themselves on ashtrays. Can you imagine that these days? Not a bloody chance.
I'm not just sticking to fag stuff though. I also pick up some booze related materials and even old airline playing cards. Basically, any old point of sale material that catches my eye, will be added to the collection.
Anyway, here's about 70% of what I've managed to buy/trade/swap/filch while the waiter's distracted since I first got the bug.
As you can see, there's no real theme, I'm not that anal yet, but every once in a while, I toddle off to jumble sales/car boot sales over here and buy one or two that take my fancy.
I don't have anywhere to display them yet, so they're all in boxes but after the LNY next year, I'll get onto a local chippy and see if he can construct summat that gives me a chance to show them off in all their glory.
I hope you like my collection. ;) You never know, there may even be something in here you remember. :D

Thanks mate, but to be honest, that's not all of it. I just decided to get the majority of it out to photo them and share with folks I know. Like I said, I just wish I had a cabinet of some kind where I can display them. That's my first task after the Christmas holidays.

Thanks lads. @Sailor, yes, it's fabulous, isn't it? Made of a hard plastic, kind of Bakelite (have a spelt that correctly?) but it really is nice. Never seen another even remotely similar so it could be quite rare.

More acquisitions today from a flea market just outside KL. Pretty chuffed with this little haul.
Okay, so it's not antique, but it'll look good in my office.

JPS plastic coasters. Mint for a quid.

This is really intriguing. It's NOS looks like a premium promotion piece. Box is a bit manky but it's all there.
