so i brought a cat d motegi 2000 yr , to put on the track ..track days not racing ... when it turned up it was 1 owner + plus Honda and only 74000 miles , got a door and wing off a member in exact colour , and whilst I waited for the bits I wrote a letter ( yes wrote a letter pen paper envelope etc ) to the previous owner who informed me he still had the book pack and service book and for a 5er he would send them , boom . turns out it has full service history incl cam belt change tensioners etc at 72k .. so I don't know what to do with it now put it to top condition (& get another lude for track) or track it.
damage was very very light car was stationary and a van clipped the wing and door er that's it .never touched the wheel , it only popped the indicator out of the wing !
its a proper motegi and not many left which is a plus
cat d is a minus ??????

It's obviously not for us to tell you what to do with it, so just go with your gut.
My thoughts though, are a track car you still want it to be up to standard, well maintained and not a rot box, so why not?

if you bought it for the track - take it to the track! If your not going to make it your main car - then at least get the most out of it when you do drive it. You said the interior was pretty shot , so it makes sense. Sell the motegi kit, strip out the interior etc...
Let me know if you ever need any bits and bobs - i still have boxes of bits and pieces (that said, no sooner had i dropped the door off to you, i noticed my passenger side solenoid might be on the blink! if you get around to swapping the doors, and its easy to nab - can you whip it out?)

Especially if it's relatively rot free?
