Hi all,
Hope that someone can help.
I am looking to buy a tow car and a trailer and was hoping for some advice to gauge what trailer I will need.
I am hoping to get a Saab 9-5 Aero (Again) which has a max tow weight of 1800Kg
The aim is to be able to Tow the prelude (1200Kg).
Therefore, for a twin axle trailer with dimensions big enough to fit a prelude, will this fit under the 600Kg mark.
I see a few people tow preludes on here and wanted a bit of info about their trailers.
Eg, (kerb weight, model/make and type)
Like I said, trying to gauge what is best.
The tow car I need is to be an everyday chugger and I loved my old 9-5 Aero so hence hoping to get another.
Many thanks for any help
Marc

So weird you posted this up Marc! For the past hour I've been reading up on towing restrictions and trying to see if there's anyway I can tow the lude even though I don't have part "E" on my license.

You should be able to find a trailer under the 600kg mark. I've just been speaking to a colleague who used to have a rather robust car trailer and that still only came up to 470kg unladen.

@3rd gen steve He arranges the trailers we use so he might be able to give some pointers.

@jasonxr2racer also has a quality one for sale which I'm sure he'll know the specs of.

U will probably need to do ur b+e trailer test as I think if you passed ur test after 2001 you need to pass test to be able to tow a trailer but I'm not 100% on that, I done my trailer test in 2009 as I needed it for my job as I was towing a mini digger all the time with a big trailer and a long wheel base van, because they were actually trying to do me for not having a Tacho card because I think you are only aloud to do a certain amount of miles in one journey and because the length of it they were trying to do me

The tacho card doesn't apply to me as I'll only be towing for pleasure, but the trailer test applies to those who past their driver's test after 1st Jan 1997. A lot of it is absurd, but I won't go completely derailling Marc's thread with it ;)
