Japfest Silverstone gopro rules.

Post by Bludge » Mon Mar 13, 2017 2:44 pm

Anyone know what the rules are on the gopro style cameras for track time at silverstone? bought myself a cheap knockoff, and i was thinking of either mounting it to my helmet, asticky pad mount to the dashboard, or a suction cup to the rear screen to get some of the interior action in as well (or possibly a combination of 2) but i cant find anywhere that mentions the rules regarding them. anyone have any experience?

Found this in relation to track days but they are normally more lenient on track time at events such as japfest right?

"Drivers using cameras must complete a form obtained at signing on and have the equipment checked by a member of the Safety Team. Only bolt on mounting systems designed specifically for the purpose and not suction or other temporary mountings must be used. Under no circumstances must Helmet Cams be used. Drones are also expressly forbidden.

Please complete our onboard camera request form by clicking here."

Usually circuits do not like suction cups unless they have a secondary tethering. I doubt they will relax the rules for japfest. Best to mount it to the dash if you can.
