owning two ludes one a 2l the other a 2.3l i class the 2l as a slug being its so slow having said that i did have a bit of fun with a ST mondeo lost out on the straights but more than made up for that in the bends  , having got the 2.3l running now when i took that for a spin i was like wtf this is more like it so either my 2l is slow or there is a big difference between these engines ,so i gotta ask how quicks a 2.2 vtec

I've not driven a 2.3i, but I've owned a 2.2 non-vtec which is also 160bhp. The 2.2 non-vtec is almost as fast as a JDM VTEC lude until vtec kicks in, probably closer to an early UKDM vtec lude (185bhp).

2.0l's are 130bhp for the record. Not slow by any means, but it's the torque they lack.

i am thinking my 2l has issues cause its slow the 2.3l is an auto which i no is a different kind of drive but trust me the two are miles apart , cant wait to whip the 2l out and drop the vtec in think its going to transform the car :vtec: kinda hungry for the power now what mods are worth doing to the vtec before i drop it in just to give it that bit extra

I had 2 f20a4 4th gens. Both were quick.

I thought they were quite torquey as they made peak torque at 3700rpm. Very linear power.
But not h22 fast by no means.

My current car started life as a JDM f22 none VTEC. Not sure on the exact bhp but it was a quick ish. Was quicker than my mats f20 he had at the time. That was till I hit the limiter at 112 ish. But the new h22a engine is a hole different beast. 208 bhp an 183 torque VTEC about 5500 rpm now its quicker than his hawk eye Scooby so it shifts

To be fair, my 2.0l was the first lude I had, many moons ago and it wasn't the best example. I often gauge my cars power by how fast I can get up to speed on a particular dual carriageway hill. The 2.0l needed a fair run up.

Where are you getting your 183lbft torque figure from? That's pretty darn high considering its only 208bhp.

That's what I had it dyno'ed at about a year ago now. I know there are lots of things to effect a rolling road an their not gospel but its all I have to go off. There is a few pics on my lude profile. I often think to my self it seam a lot too mostly when get to your banner at the bottom of your posts Nathan lol. But as say its all I have to go off

mine must have a fault then cause its flat you put your foot down and it does nothing just makes a bit more noise even if you drop it down a gear it still dont pick up , from a start the 2.3 will spin the wheels no problem if you boot it off the line the 2.0l wont
