Banter goes here, and doesn't have to be Lude related

Powerflow Swindon or Redditch?

Post by Max » Thu Sep 14, 2017 5:13 pm

Hi All,

I'm looking at getting a custom exhaust built for my Type S and thinking about going to Powerflow, the nearest branches to me are Swindon and Redditch. I'm not after anything too fancy just a stainless steel cat back in either 2.25 or 2.5 inch diameter ideally with mandrel bends and an OEM+ looking twin tail pipe. Main reason for this is it doesn't seem too easy to get a nice 5th gen exhaust especially one for a Type S with JDM cat.

I believe Swindon is run out of Bell Steel Exhaust and Silencers, they're work looks pretty tasty :)

Whereas Redditch is run out of My Tyre Ltd which doesn't fill me with confidence :(

Has anyone used either of these places and if so whats your opinion?

Cheers
Max

I have a custom 3" exhaust made via performance autoworks. 3 straight through silencers and a decat pipe.
I actually find it to loud on full throttle but its quiet everywhere else, could be the supercharger and hytech header not helping.

I have just bought an invidia q300. No idea if it will fit the type s but we will see. That should arrive next month from the usa.
No where would reply for a custom exhaust to replace my 3" so I gave up.

No experience with powerflow but it depends on the individual welder at the end of the day.

Consider Infinity Exhausts, just outside Bristol.

I had a couple of smaller jobs done there and they were top notch.

I've never heard a good word about Bells.

If it were my money, I'd be paying Alan at Solid Fabrications a visit for a custom exhaust.

The Invidia looks sweet but about twice what i want to spend, I didn't know PAW did exhausts and I'm there on Monday so I'll probably make some enquiries :)

Solid fab is a bit out the way and probably over budget for me. Have to say the interwebs are not exactly brimming with reviews for Powerflow Swindon!

Infinity sounds like its worth a look and fairly close, i need a new flexi welded on my DC5 manifold too!

After 3 emails and 2 calls with voicemail messages Alan can bugger right off. Never replied. It's a shame as his work looks fabtastic. I wanted a 3" super silent. Unfortunately 3 other companies that come recommend highly never replied either. I gave up so I spent £550 on an invidia.

I've heard that they can be pricey, too.

Flexi replacement is one of the things I've had done there. Booked a time to go in, they did it there and then in about half an hour :D
