I've recently been advised to join up with DriveTribes Moneybox program. No idea how it'll work, but here's a taste of an attempt at biographic journalism, co written with Ray, (for those at JAE 2017, you'll remember Ray, my Dad, there was a good deal of stumbling post wine, hehe).

Great article, Richard.

It's amazing how many of the cars described I owned or ran as company cars:-

- 2 Austin Maxis, both 1750s and both extremely reliable.
- Model E Velox with gear selector fork problems that were a relatively easy DIY fix.
- Austin Cambridge: I didn't keep it for long, but that was more because something else came up than anything else.
- Citroen GS, a short-term company car while I waiting for my new Mk4 Cortina.
- Mini. Sold last winter.
- Peugeot 205. Not the Roland Garros, but a 1.9GRD.

My mate had 120Y (Cherry) and although I never owned an FD Victor, I did have a Viscount.

Did you find the Maxi reliable, I think Dad had lemons. Memories of Dad forever in the garage with the 1500 and 1750.

How? Do you spill your drink or let it bubble through your exhaust?

As to the Maxi, the first one I owned I bought off my boss. I'd used it a few times for work and like its capabilities. I never worried about taking it anywhere; it just started and went. I can't remember why I sold it.
The second I bought for £50 from a chap who worked for me. It was a stop-gap. Although pretty rough around the edges, it was pretty reliable. I think I had to put some new spark plugs in it once, and possibly a set of points.

hehe, a bit of both I suspect. Should have been a proper fun car, just drank soo much oil and sometime it would randomly idle at 3000rpm. Think Vauxhall had the car back twice to try and suss the oil usage.
