What does any one do about tow strap/eye on 5th gen it's so far back slightly worried if I put it in gravel they will just pull it out by anything solid! Also what tyer pressure do people run when tracking does it make as big a difference as people say?

If they have to tow it out of somewhere, your gonna be there to direct them. Hopefully they wouldn't put it around the ps cooling pipes for example.

Yes, tyre pressure and tyre is the biggest factor. You will need to run a much lower pressure than normal as the extra heat will pump it back up. Take a manual tyre pressure gauge and check after 2 warm up laps what the pressure is. Let it back down when still hot back to normal pressures, this should be ok. You will need to pump up again before leaving the track.

That said - the new tyres (federal RSR 595) feel quite hard so i might take it down to 2 / 2.1 for daily driving (car does not get used much).

Recommendations on pressure are difficult due to the tyre you are using, environmental temp and driving style.

The way I would do it for a normal road tyre is, drop it to 27 PSI cold , do a few laps and come back into the pits and if needed drop the pressures to 31/32 psi hot. Then every time you come in check the pressures and see if they have gone above 31/32 psi. A key sign that tyre pressures are too high is understeer.

Tyres with stiffer side walls can be dropped lower. When on track with my Federal RSR's, I start at 24 PSI cold and that rises to just over 30 PSI hot.

Useful to know your feedback on the RSRs.

Mine are marked as 220 TWI , so not the softest ones (apparently 120 and 180 exist) - i haven't pushed the car too much since they've been fitted, but i cant say i have any more grip than my uniroyal rainsport 3's , but hope they will feel grippier once they warm up and have some air let out of em.

The RSR's can deal with heat much better than the RainSports (I have them as my wet tyre) but their innate grip is much higher than the RainSports too. Once you get a few laps in you'll soon see the benefits of the RSR's .

Thanks I'm running yoko ad08r s on the front and toyo proxies on rear atm haven't suffered from under steer yet but maybe that's because I'm to frightend/lack of experience to push it that hard
