Crank sensor issue update

Post by Free Ranj Egg » Tue Aug 14, 2018 4:45 pm

Hello.

So as some of you are aware my car threw up a fault code 4 which is the crank sensor. After searching high and low for one and not being able to get one, I brought one from ebay from China and took the car to the mechanics after searching on you tube where the location of the crank sensor is on an A8 engine.

I take my car to the mechanics who tells me the crank sensor isn't located near the crank on the passenger side of the engine. I tell him he is on crack and he says "Come down and look for yourself" which I did.

Funnily enough he was right!! I have an A8 engine which has the crank sensor located in the dizzy, which I thought was the way it was for an A5 engine. How weird is that!!!

I got myself a dizzy from Lankysod and hopefully the car will be back on the road tomorrow.

Needless to say I have a brand new crank sensor which is of no use now lol.

Just thought Id share it with the lude familia, as I had to learn the hard way. Before going out and buying a part it may be an idea to check the engine for the exact location of the sensor.

Peace!!

Ranj

I'm pretty sure someone said it was in the dizzy?

I called Matt at Red R who said it was near the crank and the videos on youtube for an A8 engine confirm the same.
On an A5 they are in the dizzy.

I cant wait until I go for a drive tonight. I haven't driven the lude in over a month!!!

Pretty sure its only the U.S preludes that have the crank sensor at the crank nose.
