Banter goes here, and doesn't have to be Lude related

No cost mate. Yeah come round Saturday, I'll be elbow deep in trim fitting and bushes lol.

Car should be fine at moderate speed and low throttle openings.

I'll pm you my address and contact details. It's a quick job..

It may be the replacement dizzy is no good so worth asking if new dizzy is 2nd hand, genuine oem honda or aftermarket.
I suspect it wont be a genuine brand new oem dizzy.
I had a brand new aftermarket one and it was ok to start with for first few weeks then it went wonky - adjusting the timing made no real difference - when it was timed perfect it had massive flat spots - and could only drive it gently - when you stepped on the pedal it got a lot worse.....

Wonder what it is in the distributor that caused the flat spots?
On an old fashioned mechanical one, that would happen because rotating weights would stick etc but can't picture what causes the problem with electronic ignition.

The dizzy was purchased of a lude gen member - hopefully its not a faulty dizzy. I miss driving the old girl

I have spare cap/rotor arm/coil and leads from a known good setup so we will find the issue if it isn't just the timing.

Heya buddy, sorry to hear your still having issues.
I can confirm the dizzy came from a good known runner before removing it straight off the car and into the box sent to yourself.

Let me know how you get on mate :-)

Its funny, just caught up on this one. This is exactly the issue I was having, when I bought the car I know it had recently had a Dizzy replaced. Now once I had the Exhaust sorted etc I was able to check over a few things. I tweeked this by engine noise and speed and massively improved it however still dotted about.

I also took for the MOT and failed on emissions. New Cat and Back box welded and it still failed the emissions. I then moved the dizzy in the garage and done the test passed. Happy days. Got out the garage and round the corner again really bad couldn't accelerate, tweeked the dizzy at the side of the road and again better but not perfect.

Let me know how you get on.

All sorted, pleasure to have met you Ranj.

Started off by shorting the connector and then hooking up the timing light.

Bit wierd, couldn't see the timing marks so fired it up on my lude and the lightweight flywheel had the mark as plain as day.

Back to Ranj's lude and still couldn't see it.

Popped out the plugs, jacked it up on the passengers side and turned the engine over manually. Wooden dowel in pot 1 to confirm TDC.

Mark on his flywheel was absolutely miniscule, no chance to see it when rotating. Turned over a bit more and there it was.

Small blob of white paint applied at the 15° btdc and all was well. Timed it up 30 seconds later and the car was pulling cleanly through the rev range.

Another successful mission!

Cheers

Scott
