In my new job, 2 miles up the road, and they've just had another 2 BT infinity lines put in, bringing it upto 4 total, at 80Mb d/l each line and 10Mb u/l.
Here at home I don't have the infinity option so am stuck on ADSL and struggle to get 3Mb d/l
Anyone else drokked off with BT not doing things properly?

At least BT are putting in new infrastructure which is designed to deal with high throughput internet traffic, and are rolling it out (eventually) to most exchanges in the country.
The only other option is Virgin, and they're not investing in any new infrastructure, and are ramping up speeds on a network not designed for the amount of traffic - yes you may get great headline speeds, but the latency and QoS isn't great.
I've had a letter through the door to say that I can get FTTC - not that I will be - I'm happy enough with my 17mb on ADSL2+
My dad is further away from the exchange and is currently stuck with his ISP, PlusNet, not giving him more than 1mb!
BT are actually doing a good job, they're rolling stuff out quickly - it's just frustrating when it's not in your home area!

Its frustrating when my exchange came 19th in the Race To Infinity over a year ago, and still we have nothing, despite being classed as one of the worst broadband "not spots" in the whole of the UK!!
If I lived in the middle of the countryside I wouldn't be complaining, but a town of 25,000 odd residents, it's ridiculous!

Can only get 1mb here, you get used to things taking hours rather than minutes

Bt have always been slow, it was about 5years after broadband came out before it got to where we live and it's not exactly the middle of nowhere. It was 3years of 'in 6 months'
I think the future will be in 4g through the mobile network.
I got an Internet dongle with 3 at the mo, I get a faster connection through that (on speedcheck.net) than through the landline at my sisters flat in Cardiff city cente

I have BT Infinity. When installed, i was getting speeds of upto 40mb D/L and 10mb U/L for about 1 month. All of a sudden i get 15mb D/L and 6mb U/L.
Even though that may seem to be a fast speed for some, i think its crap from what i use to get. The exchange is literally 1/2 a mile up the road and my mate who live 10+miles away has the exact same package as me and gets fast speed.
I think BT hates me

Still.... Better than SKY to be honest!

I can get upto 22mbps download and 1 meg upload with sky (actually bt ) both companies are a home though and I hate them both as both have literally stolen off me and I refuse to ever have dd with either as they seem to like to steal your cash and hope you don't notice and then make excuses my sky package shoals be costing 34 a month unsteady its 44 why because they say so.grrrrrr
4 g ftw however I'm concerned that when every one is on it its going to slow down too much but in theory upto 1gb download

Now I feel even more lucky that I'm on Virgin 100Mb/s.
As already noted though, you don't really always get the top speed, and in my case, never because I'm on a horribly over-subscribed UBR. It's alright when the students go home though.
