F1 Prelude Safety car ??

Post by Strangerover » Mon Sep 17, 2018 7:36 pm

Having had my love of prelude re-energised (Have had Gen 2&3) just bought a Gen 4, still to collect...

However I picked up that Honda used the 1994 Prelude as a Safety car in the 1994 Japanese F1 Grand Prix

However I can only find one very poor photo....

Has anyone got any more info as I think having a car that's been used in F1 adds extra kudos !

An NSX sounds more likely.

No, seriously, they used a Prelude !
I have done some research and keep finding the same front end photo, it was a wet race and they used a Prelude

Yep they used a 3rd Gen, definitely. Hadn't picked up on them using a 4th Gen, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Oops, I did actually edit my last post with more info, but it was on the train while coming up to my stop, so looks like I didn't save it

Can't find the 3rd gen footage right now, but skip to 1:13 and 2:19 on here and you'll see the sexiest safety car ever

I heard they had to stop using the 4g as safety car because it was actually too fast - the f1 cars couldn't keep up, so that made it rubbish as a safety car :(
