Guess what parts Honda still do for a 1g

Banter goes here, and doesn't have to be Lude related

Which 1g parts are still available from Honda?

I haven't done too much digging into it yet, tbh (other than the master cylinder - on which, plenty of options out there new) but I don't envisage it being that much of a struggle.
A lot of the mechanicals I expect to be shared with the Triumph Acclaim, which means... There will be literally tons of bearded men out there with shops full of parts!
Quite a bit of the usual service item stuff is "reasonably" available aftermarket - items such as timing belts, filters, brake pads, clutches etc. Correct brake discs, drums, shoes etc can be a bit more of a headache though.
In terms of Acclaim shared parts - in actual fact it is very little, mostly due to the fact the Acclaim was essentially a 4 door Civic and the 1G Prelude was Accord based. Brakes, front hubs/knuckles etc for example are smaller than the Prelude
Some bits do cross over between them but honestly not very much.
Sometimes you need to think outside of the box for parts such as headlamps - Bedford Rascal are the same fitment here

There are some good specialist sites than can supply some of the more obscure parts, a couple of examples below

https://www.cmsnl.com/ - Not the cheapest for sure but service is great and handy OEM parts drawings/part numbers
https://www.autodoc.co.uk/ - Useful and decent service on some harder to find parts.

Ians 1st gen is truely a stunning example and such and perfect car to find after many years of searching.
I voted for air filter because I'm the shizz nizz.
Hope Honda do as nissan and Toyota do and start old Honda parts program.
They would make a killing.

That CMSNL website is awesome for having the oem parts diagrams - thanks for posting up!

I normally wouldn't have started with parts availability from Honda, but the car is so original/low mileage, I wanted to use oem parts if possible.

I was even prepared to buy a Honda battery (I normally just use aftermarket because better choice/usually cheaper for same quality) but they've confirmed they have discontinued guaranteed supply of Honda branded batteries and it would be a normal aftermarket branded item, so pointless.

I’ve no idea about the parts availability, but I have a dull fact about Honda Swindon. In the 80’s, when there were plenty of 1Gs needing parts, Windmill Hill Garage had the Honda Franchise. For whatever reason in the 90s they started selling Citroens and Fish Bros (colloquially “Fishy Fannies”) took on the Honda franchise.
I used to work for both Honda and Citroen, doing the IT/development for their in-house auction systems that they used to dispose of their own/lease cars to their dealers. Having visited both HQs and factories quite regularly, it was amazing to see how differently the two worlds operated.

Slough Citroen, or after they closed that and merged it with the Pug HQ in Coventry?

As many on here know, I'm a big Citroen fan (of the hydraulic cars - I have lots  ) but not of the way the company is run these days, in the slightest.

I used to work with most of the major European manufacturers and found the same thing. Even something like finding out who actually took decisions could be a tortuous process, let alone getting that decision.

Slough Citroen and Swindon Honda, from about '91 to '94. I dealt with the disposal side of their business', on an auction system that the company I worked for wrote, but I'd often mince around their respective setups just to see how things were done. More so at Honda, I was there quite regularly and I've continued to do bits for them throughout the years, although the prospective of a rainy Tuesday in Slough appealed quite often too! :D

When Citroen were in Slough, they actually provided good technical support, even for cars that had been long out of production.

These days, you can never get contact with any technical support (they won't take anything further than the useless standard script response call centre) and any car no longer in production (no matter if it's literally only just gone out of production!) is regarded as 'old' and 'no longer supported'.
Absolutely shocking company.
