hey guys. A good friend of mine is looking for a 5th gen. VTI at least, Motegi or type S better.

I found this type S but it has the following description of the bad points....

''WHEN DRIVING ABOUT 50MPH THE CAR STEERING VIBRATES I HAVE BEEN ADVISED BY A MECHANIC THAT THE WHEELS MAY NEED BALANCING OR IT COULD BE THE DRIVE SHAFTS NOTHING MAJOR BUT THE CAR DRIVES FINE APART FROM THAT DONT LET THIS PUT YOU OFF AS IT DRIVES VERY GOOD AND IT IS A FAST CAR
IT DID HAVE SERVICE HISTORY BUT MY FRIEND LOST THE PAPERWORK TO IT BUT HE DOES STILL HAVE THE LOGBOOK AND A FEW PREVIOUS MOTS.''

This is the link

its right in his budget and it has a load of desirables...(i would be getting the fujisubo and the Greedy 8-) ) but what could that be?

Im thinking easy as a wheel weight? or a dead ATTS? (I have a spare)

or do any of you have any other ideas?

(N.B. ''get a 4th'' gen is not an idea before it comes out )

I think its worth a look.....its not my money
6th gen Prelude please Mr Honda. RWD 2.4 turbo lude.

If a wheel was out of balance why wont he get them all balanced for piece of mind. This alone make me woinder its something else.
Worth it though.

I was wondering that, its a cheap simple fix, so if it was that you'd get it done.

I hate adverts where they list the price of everything they've bought and put on it too.

Its worth it tho if its not a complete shed or a write off, espicially of its been polybushed like he claims.

*Edit - my motor trader head has a feeling its an iffy motor.

I think its certainly worth a look, give it a good drive and make sure your mate hpi and vosa checks it.

From the description he seems to know a bit about the car which sounds suspect to me that a 'simple' issue hasn't been sorted. Especially with all the expensive parts he's put on and work hes had done...

Take it for a test drive James and you can see if it has been poly bushed and if the ATTS works as you have a car with both of these ;)

Unfortunatly the 'import tax'' on the insurance means the type S, and all JDM's are out.

iv hav a mind to just go take a look. I bet i could fix it, swap the FB full exhaust for my mugen cat back, chav the lip and sell it on for the same..............................................

A buckled wheel could also cause a bad vibration and make it impossible to balance fully.

Looks a good car with nice mods if its all legit.

^^ I was going to say buckled wheel as well.

I had this on a civic i bought years ago. Couldn't hardly see the buckle with the wheel spinning on the balancer but it would not balance and vibrated like hell over 60.
