Ok guys and gals I need some advice on how best to deliver a drivers side window? Courier, postal service, best way of packing it etc etc etc, need to know everything pretty much so please post away

I would package it in an oversize box with loads and loads of bubblewrap around it and some lumps of polystyrene to hold if firm, maybe even some pipe lagging on the corners.

I had to post a glass light fitting last year and thats how I did it. The post office told me they don't insure glass tho.

Post office fail, might have to see if couriers will insure it, if not I'd prefer to deliver in person, bit of a long trip but better than having it broke with no come back

Try a courier on ebay or shiply if not sure someone will do it

better idea, box it and fill it with no more big gaps in a can (expanding foam):D cover the glass in cling film first then place up right in the box then fill it with the foam, would be fun too film it and post it on here, would be great to see how well this would work, the foam would have to be all round so put some along the bottom first before placing the glass in

I worked with a guy years ago who upset someone in the workshop. They squirted that stuff into his toolbox drawers one night.

It took him a week to chip the tools out.

Also reminds me of the mate who thought it would be funny to tip postcrete down the toilet in another mates house one night after too many beers. That didn't chip out

Most importantly you need to protect the edges as they're the weakest point of toughened glass. I part time work for a glass company and I've literally hit the flat of toughened glass with a hammer and it just bounced off, the edges though... just a small tap and they can shatter.

Sounds like pipe lagging and might see if I can "borrow" some expanding foam bags from my old employers, they got a proper machine that drops it into heat sealed bags from a roll, the chemicals are in big drums hehehe, they also have huge boxes and courier accounts but I can't be too cheeky, if nothing else the self delivery option is there still

yeh i sometimes use those foam machines, i once put some into someones trainers that is why you would have to cover the glass in film (it would stick to the glass)

This stuff is self contained, utter cnut if the bag splits or doesn't seal properly so could get away with no cling film, probably be in bubble wrap though which would also keep spilled AB foam off the glass hehe
