Toyota Yaris GR

Post by Hagland-BB4 » Thu Nov 12, 2020 8:21 pm

I like the s660 and the toyota. The Yaris was never the best car but this one does look good and different. Soon they will be everywhere though too.
My experience with small engines with turbos have put me off them completely. Even low mileage ones there has been problems.

At least toyota is Japanese lol. I certainly would test drive one too though.

Anyone else seriously tempted by one of these?

https://www.topgear.com/car-reviews/toyota/gr-yaris

The reviews coming through are excellent.

I have a test drive booked for December, not allowed to until then because of lockdown.

It's the first new car I have really wanted for as long as I can remember, usually I prefer old cars, hence the 2 Preludes I own.

If I did buy one, I would have to sell both my Preludes really, it's the only way I could justify it to myself.
Woooh you are you selling. Saw the eBay advert.

In the same boat as you.. considering a GR also.
Reviews seem awesome as a drivers car. Got my test drive booked in for after lockdown and also got them to send a finance quote through... CTR also on the cards, but no finance. May have to sell the MPS and the lude

@@Dino I've got a CTR FK8 now, I rate it, bannanas good on track, good in the road but 320 bhp through the front wheels can feel a bit much on the road around town, mega around the bends. Honestly took a GTR around track and was glad to be back in the civic after.

Yeah I put the advert up earlier to test the water. It felt wrong

Usually when I sell up I am ready to part, but this doesn't feel the same. If the Yaris GR didn't exist I wouldn't have even thought about it.

For me the FK8 is a very capable machine but it's too big and I don't like the way it looks.

The FK8 is super pHugly. Small p capital H. The standard Civic Sport looks much better.
The spoon fk8 bumpers are a huge improvement however.

@RattyMcClelland this is also a reason for me holding back on the civic... but also i think the interior on Yaris may be a bit basic.. will need to see in the flesh.

@4thhenphil cheers for the info buddy. Always good to hear some feedback from a fellow 4G owner

I still don't find myself looking back at the missus' civic sport. Back is terribly plastic, twin exhaust OK, side is meh (black wheels look guff). I think the front part with the LED headlights and piano black accenting is the only part I like.

Hardly being driven now because of lockdown - but it's still a big car and annoyingly so for it. I think this is where the GR will find some love. It seems all the hot hatches , by necessity , have turned into full size family cars. Smaller cars by definition don't have a hot model anymore (with a few exceptions).

The inside of the civic X is a nice place to be though.

I don't have to look at it when I'm driving it! I test drove a fair amount of other cars and nothing could really come close so I'll put up with the looks.
