Almost lost Saffy today!!!

Post by Dbo » Sat Jun 02, 2012 5:40 pm

coming home from work down one of the back roads, this silly cow in a Micra was driving straight at me at 50mph :o
she wasn't even looking at the road, just staring at her steering wheel :x
blasted the air horns and she looked up in shock. if i had slammed on the brakes she would have just smashed straight into my side as she made no attempt to brake or steer out

i had no choice but to steer left and boot the lude up the pavement and she missed my rear end by inches :!:

but the lude when it hit the curb made one hell of a bang!! i expected to get out and find the wheel stuffed up under the wheelarch or atleast a blown tyre but nothing :D

she hit the kerb on my side of the road and then screwed left back out into the oncoming car behind me, then she stopped dozy cow!!!

when i got home took wheel off and had a good look but alloy is still round, no cracks, wishbones still straight and droplink fine and the trackrod end, fine!

looks like i escaped with nothing :D but the bang was bone crunching
no vibrations or judder from the steering but the cable ties holding the steering rack gaitor on had both snapped so put new ones on and all good :D

she was shocked and crying a lot at the scene, and her only excuse was she must have blanked out!! all she said at scene was how was she going to tell her boyfriend that she had crashed the car AGAIN!!!

just glad Saffy in one bit

Old, young or middle aged?

Either which way, sounds like she doesn't deserve a driving licence. I'd be tempted to report her to the police for admitting "blanking out" while driving, this is a potentially dangerous situation waiting to happen.

^^^^ This for sure.

My mate had a head on with both cars doing just over 40 and it damn nearly killed him. In fact it did - twice - but thank god they got him back both times. The other driver had just got off a flight tired and was zoned out behind the wheel and did exactly what happened to you. People like this shouldn't be driving.

she was young. i would say about 21 or 22. she was sobbing her eyes out. but in these situations i was more interested in getting the details of her car incase i had to claim for repair costs.
her boyfriend turned up on scene and for once was glad he didn't turn up "up for it" he was understanding and said if anything was wrong with my car he was more than willing to pay for it to be fixed.
i took this to mean that they both being young if their insurance was involved it would have cost them more.

i was just hoping that this may have scared her into driving better in the future :!:

I think I would get my tracking checked after a knock like that, would be a shame to destroy your front tyres!!!

it amazed me time after time how strong these cars are, the bag o bum droppings had i dont know how many crashes into and over some very hard and large objects and other than panel damage i never broke anything and it always drove home straight as a die.
