Post up the image so I can have a look.
Depending what your tring to do this is how I get my focus for shots. With the camera on auto focus, shine a light on an object that is at the distance you want to focus at. Generally I get a friend to stand 3m away and shining alight on himself. Get your camera to auto focus on that point, then switch it to manual focus so it locks that focal point. Then you are free to do what you want without the camera stuggling to gain focus for every shot.

Not that bad, try the focus thechnique above and maybe a stronger torch.
