Lude Generation

ok...been doing a good bit more driving recently and id love to make a few changes for the better

i have added a few 'performance parts' on my lude during the last few years that may improve or hinder mpg or performance

straight through power flow no centre silencer (still got cat)
magnecors
AEM CAI
meisters (lowered a good bit, but recently raised for MOT brake test and left as its so much nicer to drive)
staggered 7" front and 8" alloys with 195 and 205 tyres 45 profile

right...now the questions

im gonna be keeping the lude if i can afford to use it with the increased milage im doing...

my aim is to now change/improve my car to gain the best mpg as possible coupled with improving my driving style to aid my goal

first thing i really wanna do is obtain a standard exhaust just to cut the noise down as 3am and no silencers coupled with a 4" tailpipe are really beginning to hurt my ears
will this help or hinder mpg?

should i loose the cai or will this make no difference?

will running the same width tyres on all 4 corners reduce drag? and will running slightly narrower tyres as on blue fin/blue motion hybrid cars also help?

my 4ws has never worked...i have a 2ws set up ready to go on...

will the removal of steering on the rear also reduce drag?

i know this is a lot of questions and if anyone can help i will be v gratefull

removal of the 4ws will do nothing regards to drag, but will make you lighter and therefore better mpg

what kind of mpg are you aiming at? std aitrfilter? std ecu? uk or jdm?

running an aem cai with the oiled style aem filter
standard ecu
uk vti 2.2

currently getting about 50-60 miles to £10

The more weight you strip out the better the performance and the better the mpg

best go on a diet as im overweight more than any weight ill ever remove from the car via removing parts

You will see little change in MPG doing any of the suggestions IMO.
Biggest change you can do it change your driving style. Anticipate traffic, lights etc. Stay off throttle, dont brake, accelerate hard to get to you speed but dont revs.

Get a 306 diesel and use the Lude for everything else.

60 miles - £10 around 37mpg which aint bad. i do about the same with a stock lude, exept for motorway, then i can get well into the 40s. fuel consumption in vtec mode is horendouse but i cant help it i dont think any of your mods has really effected fuel consumption that much, wider tyres will raise rolling resistance so narrower are better for economy but not so good in the twisties raising and lowering cars can also adjust the camber, this can also raise rolling resistance.

i never use vtec except in extreme cases
i sit under 3000k all day

been close to a peugeot purchase a few times looking at the mpg...but then storage would be an issue and i would never use the lude...kinda defeats the purpose for me
