So, amongst other things (taming undergrowth) I thought it might be nice to refurb my BBQ before the National meet. She is a cracking old girl but she was showing her age.

I got her from ebay two years ago for £63 with a half full bottle of gas

She is in the Canadian style and made by Fiesta of Ontario.

She looked like this :(

after about 20 mins she looked like this :o

and after 3 hours of sanding, shot blasting, wire brushing, Gloss black paint and 600c BBQ paint she looks like this :D

nice full can of gas sorted and a good heat cycle and she's ready for action!

Bring on your ribs, your steaks, burgers and sausages! IM READY!

Good work!

Didn't have you down as a gas BBQ kind of guy, thought you'd be more of a coal man

for many many years I spoke out against Gas BBQ's.

It was when I got hold of one that cost more than 'B&Q nasty' new that I realised my mistake. I had been going to the wrong BBQ's it seemed. Cheap Gas BBQ's are awful and a half decent charcoal will body lemonade on it (figurativley) but when you get into the BBQ/oven's and a good bed of lava in between your taking a different beast.....

I fell in love with this one because it reminded me of Huey, Dewy and Louie from the Cult Sifi film Silent Running

I know the names Huey, Dewy and Louie as I have two sisters born in the 70's but it's all about being born in the 80's!

I see gas as cheating, equally the use of fire lighters to get a coal one going :nono: but I can appreciate the reliability and ease of a gas BBQ but it's not for me... yet

Is this the beast which will be cooking (and I hope not burning) our food in a couple weeks?

yes it is ;)

I used to blandish such remarks about with ease. I tell you what mate. hit your mid 30's and tell me if you can be arsed to drokk about with coal's for an hour before you can eat, or be bothered with 20 minutes of smoke filled social area... Or if you would rather just get on with the party.

Cooking over lava is ever so much more manly than coal      and its a much nicer cook. imho :)

Firstly I love how you've been 'taming undergrowth' ready for national meat  now there's a euphemism.

^^^^i was going to say that it was more likely that a1ex knew them from Duck tales rather thn the 1972 conservation sifi classic Silent Running
