I recently got the quote for this years car insurance and they wanted £680 for me at 35 for a 2.5 v6 ,but i decided to look at confused.com and it was half the price from the same company.
So i haggled and they let me have it so the payments are cheaper per month as well as dropping the breakdown on both mine and the partners puma and then we saved £40 by joining full AA membership which was £13 per mth.

so our insurances went from £42 for the puma and that went down to £27 and mine went from £56 to £32 , but this morning when i phoned to find out how much extra it would cost me to add a Honda prelude 1997-2001 vti 2.2 manual they said it would cost me £170 spread over 8 mths which took the monthly installments to £53 per mth .

Then i asked him that ive seen it on confused.com for around £371 on installlments of £38 per mth but because ive just renewed end of June that they cant price match and therefore I would either have to cancel the old insurance and pay them any cancellation charges or just remain paying the extra .

they told me it was a group 40 insurance (16-18) whereas the v6 is a 2.5 (slightly bigger engine but only a 38 (17) , iwould of thought the v6 would of been much dearer.

Insurance companies consider the 99-00 5G to be in a higher insurance bracket than the 97-98 5G as its more powerfull. I pay £340 on my 5G and £360 on my JDM 4G.

Try SKY or Greenlight, we get membership discount http://www.ludegeneration.co.uk/insurers/

I'm 27 with 7 years no claims and I pay ~£600 on my 5th.
I do have my mods (different back box, strut brace, optional motegi suspension) declared, but it didn't make a huge difference over the base insurance.

It's also a UKDM

My insurance does renew on the 23rd December every year though which might account for price hikes etc. Maybe next year I'll do a 10 monther or something to bring it back a couple of months.

It's slightly like comparing oranges and apples as it depends on so many different factors, but I'm 35 with full NCB and paid £400 this year with all the mods, then an extra £100 after the new engine etc.

Yeah, I'm happy with that TBH. I called them before I had the work done and they said about £100 extra, then called when I went to pick it up and they said £125, but i got them to knock a bit off 8-)
