Honda vs Honda

The other day I pulled into a Shell garage on the A11 and was at the pumps with a DC5 and EP3.

How do these actually stack up with a VTEC Prelude? IIRC on paper the 0-60 on the EP3 is about the same as an A8 and a DC5 about half a second quicker? Although 0-60 is a dogshit comparison. And I don't mean stack up as in if I was to street race them because that would be cockpumpery of the highest order  I mean same driver, same track, same conditions, etc. etc.

I wanted to talk to them but they were too busy giving each other reciprocal hand jobs over TypeR street cred whilst glaring at me. I only wanted to play with the big boys/have a drokking friendly chat.

Anyone else feel this Honda supremacy between the different models? I don't go to meets/etc. so can't say I've had it before TBH :?

I had a JDM teg behind me on the A27, when I let him pass he sounded like he was going flat out. Was fast I'll admit, but I reckon the lude could've kept up

The Prelude (all generations) is in a different league ;)

Type-R is all marketing to warm up and shift a few more of the school run orientated models ;)

In my experience my H22a8 5th laps exactly the same as an EP3 Civic. The Integra's have a little bit over the Lude but not much. I havent been on the same bit of track as another Honda whilst in my 4G.

The Prelude isnt a Type-R, we lug around (depending on the car) sunroofs, AC, 4WS, leather, and the Prelude is a much nicer place to sit than the Type-R's of the same era IMO. The DC2 Integra is rank inside in my opinion.

This thread shouldn't be titled "Honda vs Honda", it should be "Type-R vs every other Honda" ;-)

I definitely get the impression they all think they have race cars and that Preludes are the spectator's car  But like Phil says, I love that Preludes are vey much under estimated even by other Honda owners 8)

I've had two EP3s (one tuned to 240bhp) and test drove a DC5 and here I am looking for a BB1

Feel a bit better now, thanks guys

I suppose most manufacturers have this rivalry thing though, I'm sure the Celica GT4 peeps grief on *insert similar Toyota* owners

I agree. My boss has a DC5 but that doesn't stop me keeping similar pace, and he's a swift driver.
We had the discussion about "next cars" on the to buy list today, and he was flabberghasted that I would want to keep the lude for at least another couple of years before I move on (probably something like an S4 Estate for practicality and power  ) because "the Prelude is a boring old mans car".

The under-estimation of 'Ludes is their strong point IMO.

the people who underestimate ludes have never driven one i go to mcr-vtec meets and there were a couple who said oh its a prelude oh and an auto until i took em out for a drive and they realise the lude pulls like a train and handles as well if not better than the civics.
