Marangoni Tyres

Post by Lovedoctor » Mon Jul 23, 2012 8:12 pm

Not a question about how good they are on the Lude but....

Tha Mazda5 is now ready from the repairers. As part of the repair they replaced an alloy (it was clearly damaged with scoring/scratches) and the tyre (it had no visible damage although I understand why they would replace it).

Thing is this. Went to collect the car today. The paintwork etc looks good as does the new alloy but they replaced my tyre with a 'Marangoni' tyre rather than the Maxxis M36 tyres I had on all corners. I now have my back axle with two different brands.

I think I put there backs up a bit when I rejected the car  . The assessor even had the cheek to say 'what are you expecting a Pirelli - its a budget tyre replced by a budget tyre' Cheeky B*****d was put back in his place informing him it was a 'midrange' tyre like Toyo, Kumho etc gave him the keys and told him not to contact me again until I had another M36 on my rear

Anyone experienced Marangoni? Am I being difficult for difficults sake?

I will do my best  His other comment on his return was 'our supplier cant get them' (kwik fit btw - what a scam - prob the most expensive!) which was met with 'not my problem its yours and I suggest you change your supplier then...'

Will get your calipers back to you this week when I get paid mate. Still gutted they didnt fit as it would have saved me some beer money :x How is the 2ws conversion going?

Good work with the insurance co

The 2ws conversion didn't even get started

Spend half hour trying to find the right size socket in my dads garage to take the zorst so I could get started off at which point I decided balls to it! Especially after reading a thread on here the other day about handing issues after the conversion. Thinking I'll take it to PAW and get them to do the 2ws & geo at the same time :)

They're mainly a race type tyre, someone I know who runs a Ginetta race team is/was sponsored by Marangoni, and he could them at ridiculous prices (even then still £150+ per corner!) but obviously these were their track day tyre.

If they put the same engineering/know how into a road tyre I can see it being too bad.

Reckon it was the Verso. Pish reviews. Funny though - that site suggest they (Maxxis)are 'budgets' although they get significantly better reviews than Marangoni. I will stick to my guns :D
