EU import tax and duty question

Thought i'd ask on here to pick peoples brains.
I'm looking at buying an expensive item (£1850), it's coming from Poland. I've had a poke around on the internet, and it looks like if you buy something within the EU, you won't pay any import tax.
Is this true? I don't want to be bummed with an import tax charge

I found something a few weeks back that listed the percentage you would pay for different item types and country imported from, if I can find it when I get home tomorrow I'll let you know. You can always phone HMRC as well, the wifey did it a few weeks back when she bought another expensive item from outside the EU

And no, I'm not buying a Polish wife before anyone asks.

Import sucks. Just bought a headunit from the US. $700. Who wants to take a guess at what import charges cost me?
Also just bought some 5th Gen wind deflectors off JDM goodie and are awaiting customs charges.
