To be honest, if you're starting out and don't have any lenses etc already, you'd be best to goto a camera shop and try everything - then go for the one you feel most comfortable with.

I started with Nikon, then switched to Olympus because I preferred their system/lenses and how their cameras handled.

Basically, as long as you go with one of the big names you should be fine, as they'll have big systems you can buy kit from

Good idea, I was thinking something along the lines of Nikon or cannon as that have dslr that start around the right money.I did have a WB5000 which had the features, but not the picture I really wanted to achieve.

I brought a Cannon D500 in the end, pleased with the reults so far
