So I am a prepper. The current series on natgeo has allowed many of us quiet prepping types to raise our heads a little and say hello to each other.
I have been prepping for most of my life i suppose and am just about to add a full set of tactical ballistic body armour to my prepping stores.
If you have to ask ''whats a prepper'' dont worry about it

we will pick through your belongings after the fall and smile.
If you are already prepping what is your prediction for the fall? and what are your main prep's?

Have you got a bunker?

some of the set ups shown on the ad were mental. I quite like the idea but I've got crap all storage space

plus we have mega restrictive gun laws so it'd be hard to build a useful arsenal!

Yes? I guess

my medicinal stockpile is huge. While everyone's fighting who's gonna be the one to put you all back together?!

@jj: its not all about food and guns imo.
I have a large selection of edged weapons, spears, crossbows etc and lots of tools useful to lasting in a meltdown. I also have a number of options where escape comes in (bug out).
Its also about what your going to do when money is worthless? I have collected some bullion for trade etc. people always like shiny stuff regardless.
@gorgon: you betchya mate. medics are a needed part of the team. all the skills you can get.
@pushki: three days in you will get really hungry and damn thirsty. what are your plans then?
imo we will suffer a massive oil shock due to political shenanagins. this could easily pull the weak world economy into a freefall it wouldn't come back from. soon as you have no fuel you have no tesco's shelves full and no services to speak of. meltdown. cant wait
it all might only last a year but there will be a lot less people by the end of it and the 'world we know' will be gone.
@merc: Zombie apocalypse prepper. If you can handle the dead rising, hungry for brains your pretty much sorted for anything
@rich: im sure there were lots of people saying the same before the great depression in the states. thousands died due to no preperation.....

@rob: very cold, very hungry and dead from thirst. where are you again? so's i can come over and pick through your stuff
at the very least we should all have three days food and water stored. this is just for BASIC problems like flooding, gridout's (no electricity) and fuel strikes etc. what will happen if there is a severe storm and all electricity and water supplies are knocked out in your area for a week??
its true you know. it does not matter what political system you woke up in, deprive a society of three meals and you will have anarchy by bedtime.

I'd be happy being a zombie, zombies are cool, but only in large numbers. Single zombies are easy to defeat.
I'd rather be a vampyre though, with sexy lady vampyres all dress in rubber....mmmmmmmm
