Insurer approved repair costs

Hi, was involved in a no-fault claim this morning - bus took out my right front at the entry to a roundabout (i was stationary, he was next to me on my right and pulled left across me)

damage appears to be front wing and 1 wheel (aftermarket). any ideas what the approved repair costs will be? i'm guessing it's likely to be written off in which case, how do i go about buying the car back from teh insurance company, i've never had to do it before.

do they offer me some money for the car and then we negotiate how much i can buy it back for? can i expect to have a few hundred in my pocket to carry out the repair after all is said and done?

One step at a time, there are far too many variables at this stage.

If you have Comprehensive cover, the first step is contact your Insurers and then take the vehicle to their approved repairers for an estimate and to see if the car is repairable.

You never know, the bus insurers may offer you what is called "Third Party Repairs" whereby they will deal with the claim without involving your own Insurers. But i suspect that by the time the bus driver is back at the depot, he will be telling his boss that you drove into him on a roundabout. Did you have witnesses?

hi mate, yep fully comp - the vehicle is at the garage for assessment now. I have a witness but not sure if i can use her as she is my girlfriend (was a passenger). I stupidly forgot to take photo's of the bus tho and where it happened.

Not an independent witness, but a witness is still better than no witness at all.

Wait and see if it is repairable first and we can take things from there

well sad to report that another one bites the dust.

car was declared a cat C write off this morning, and because it was a cat D when i bought it, the payout is bugger all - £900. i guess it's a bit more serious that a broken wheel and a dented wing.

asked about the wheels, suspension, exhaust, engine work etc - but apparently £2k of mods don't add any value. haven't got the time or inclination to buy it back and strip it but it's a real shame to see such a nice car go

Gutted for you mate.

Could be worth buying it back and selling to one of the guys on here tho like Jozefan / Cebul as they break cars and may give you a few more quid knowing the value of the mods...
