Poppy Appeal and a request

Post by paul bristol uk » Fri Nov 09, 2012 11:46 pm

This Sunday is Remembrance Day. I would like those who are so minded to buy a Poppy and observe the 2 minutes silence on Sunday the 11 hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, to spare a thought for those who died to give you the freedom you enjoy today.

Poppy already bought and displayed on my best shopping jacket. I have a bit of a thing going for this . So much that I got down on one knee last year at 11 minutes past the 11th hour on the 11/11/2011. Remembrance day is a very important part of British history and I shall be stood there proudly displaying my poppy on Sunday as a mark of respect for those that made this country GREAT Britain.well done Paul for the best post on here in a long time .

I observed the 2 minutes silence while watching the service from the cenotaph. It seemed even more poignant this year with the remembrance sunday falling on the 11th. When the 11th is during the working week I just have to hope the phone doesnt ring between 11.00 and 11.02.

I remember a few years ago when I was working in a shopping centre, this obnoxious woman came into the shop, right up to me and started shouting at me about something wrong with her phone during the silence.

All the customers were looking over, obviously amazed at her total disrespect.

I responded by putting my finger to my lips indicating for her to be quiet, and she started on again.

This lasted for about another minute, and when the silence ended, I told her to leave the store and never come back again, and next time she should be careful to be more respectful to those who lost their lives to allow her to have the freedom she has, as not everyone would be as tolerant of her ignorance and stupidity.

I have never understood how people can be disrespectful of those who gave their lives to give people the freedom to be the idiots that they are.

because most of the knobheads think respect is something that they deserve for being a 4thgenphil or thinking they are hard or for shagging a celebrity
