DVLA issue

So,

I sold my old lude (2 ludes ago) back in 2010. It got exported to Poland but I did the paperwork wrong and gave the guy the complete V5 doc and as it was through ebay / paypal I don't have much proof of sale outside of feedback & a paypal transaction for '1998 HONDA PRELUDE 2.2 VTi AUTO SILVER'.

I declared the car sorn as it was easier than sorting out the issue but need to get it put to bed now...

I do have a second copy of the V5 due to an admin error at the DVLA which I'm not going to go into. So I have two ways of oging about it;

Send the transaction details that I do have and come clean about declaring it sorn and hope I don't get a fine which according to their documents could be upto £5k :o

or

Use the other V5 I have and 'sell' it to someone address overseas as the car isn't in my posession anymore and as it will be seen as exported the DVLA aren't bothered about it.

Does anyone have any other suggestions or an overseas address & are willing to help?

Cheers folks

So a guy in Poland has your old lude (has done for 2 years) but it's still registered to you?

Have you had a new red V5 through for it then?

It probably got broken tbh, it was shagged.

I get tax reminder letters for it.

Just had another thought, but would need to get a scrap certificate for it somehow which again I have no way of getting

That could be the option but how would I go about such things? I wonder if @tramroadmotors knows anyone that can help?

why not decare the car as broken and sold in parts, ie no loger exists

If you've not had a new red V5 through then they must be aware you don't have the car anymore. Although to receive tax reminders is odd.

I'd say the easiest thing is probably to ring the DVLA and just explain to them that the car was exported in 2010, but you've just got a tax reminder for it. You'd just like them to update their database. It's not like the DVLA don't make mistakes when importing and exporting, so I'm sure they'll sort you out.

Can you do that without a scrap cert?

Because that could screw the guy over in Poland or even come back on Alex, especially if the car gets imported back into the country again.
