degree top up help!

i havent a clue where to start, how to apply, where to go or what the hell i'm on about!

so here goes with the story;

I applied to go to the college i'm currently at to do my foundation degree in engineering then got sent oversea's when old Gadafi started shelling his own people so had to accept the placement over email which i could only receive once a week. When i was interviewed i was told that the college which is linked/accredited to/by the UEA, would be offering the top up to a full degree in a year part time intensive course. this was the main reason i went with this college and route, for 2 reason; one, i would not have to move uni's and thus not have the fee's increased, two, it was the intensive part time which suited me down to the ground for both the fact i currently get a day a week off work and the fact i am out of the RAF 9 months after i should have finished the one year top up.

Any hows, I digress, the college has not managed to get the accreditation so now i am in the awkward position of not knowing where to go or what to do and also the huge additional cost!
problem being if i go part time it will take 2 years to do the top up else where (the college works/was going to it that we did extra hours on the days we were in). the fact i kinda of need to still work rules out the possibility of going full time for a year!
the cost, ok is an issue but there isn't a great deal i can do about that!

i've looked into OU but they seem to use pathways in areas that i have no interest in! :roll:

thoughts or anyone know of uni's that do a 1 year part time intensive course?

cheers

phil

What do you plan to do with what you get from the course?

When you say 1 year intensive, do you mean a full degree in 1 year?

These arseholes are messing me about too Phil :evil: trying to get rid of me!

A few weeks ago they were trying to sell some degree course to everyone in Animal Science, similar promises to what you got.

Anyway, as for UCAS points I wouldn't worry mate. You're a mature student (which means 21+ or 25+ depending where you go/what you study) and not as much emphasis is put on how many UCAS points you have. Your work is somewhat related to what you're studying anyway right? That will stand you in good stead, plus the fact that you're in the RAF. If I were you I would just email a few places (wherever you can find the topup) and explain what's what before you apply. You have academic proof in the work that you're doing now, and the fact that you're already working full time then on your day off doing your course, it's a lot of work. Them knowing that will show you're enthusiastic, committed and actually ambitious.

All these things are good mate, will make you stand out against your average 18 year old that's fresh from A-levels with no real world experience. Half the time if you can chat em up a bit and be all that you can get further than having perfect grades. I'm sure you can get your CL to give you a decent ref. Being a mature student does have it's advantages.

As for the other things, I can't really help. And don't forget you only have til Jan 15th to get your application done.
