Got a Bloomin Speeding Ticket

Post by toadster » Thu Nov 22, 2012 7:20 pm

LO All

Whilst at my mothers ( in Norfolk ) i was driving out of a local town to her and i noticed a speed camera van , thought nothing of it as i was driving at below 40.

Got a notice yesterday to say i was traveling at 37 in a 30

Found out that the speed limit had been changed about a month before  road used to go from a 30 into a 40 , now they have scraped the 40 all together and the 30 extends all the way to the town limits then up to 60.

Only my second speed ticket ever :(

Cheers all ;)

Bad luck, Toadster.

That's the oldest trick in the book; quietly lower the speed limit for no real reason so you can rape money out of the locals.

The Association of British Drivers used to have a webpage where you could check if it had been legally done and if not, appeal. Many tickets were overturned where procedures were not properly followed and it might still hold. But I expect they've got wise to it by now.

That sucks!

I got caught by an unmarked van parked on a street 10 yrs ago. It was parked with a load of other cars, no signs or warnings. The entrance I took onto the road didn't have a sign showing the speed limit either.

Bummer dude, that sucks.

Err, as there are one or two of us living here in lovely Narfolk, can you tell us in which town they have changed the limits???

Thanks,

Dobbs.

There was probably a notice in the local paper to say that the change was on its way ... in tiny print.

IIRC, it was down the the reason for the drop in speed limit & whether they'd used the right bit of legislation. Basically, the nazis cannot legally lower a speed limit on a stretch of road just because the nazis feel like it.
