As above mybe just spend grand odd on one. something with good bit of poke mybe something u could map out a bit to. any eg welcome

Bit heavy mybe. i currenty have a vectra 2.0 td. was thinking something mybe could get 140 150bhp out of.

Buy the right Golf and you'd be sorted. That, or a Rover 45/25 diesel - they can be mapped too (same engine as the MG jobs, just different ECU).

There really is a lot of boring cars that are diesel, manual, and under a grand

. In addition to the already suggested, Saab 9-3 & 9-5 and perhaps a Pug 306 (I liked the 306 diesel I once had

Mk1 Leon tdi 110.
Can map it up via blacksmoke.co.uk to ~140BHP/210 lbs/ft
Under £70 for ~30hp gain
I've done the self same thing

running 2 cars is probably more expensive
2 lots of tax, insurance, tyres, mot's, repairs
your better off without one imo
